Russian soldier detained in Kharkiv on suspicion of killing six people
A Russian soldier has been detained in Kharkiv on suspicion of killing six people, according to the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor's Office. The suspect is a 36-year-old native of St. Petersburg who served in the 1009th Motor Rifle Regiment of the Russian Armed Forces.
Investigators believe the man may have been part of a Russian sabotage and reconnaissance group. The prosecution stated that the man allegedly changed into civilian clothes and shot a fisherman in the Tsirkunivska community before entering a private house in the village of Momotovo near Kharkiv and opening fire on Ukrainian servicemen, killing five. The suspect was apprehended on the evening of October 14 in Kharkiv. Earlier reports suggested the man might have escaped captivity, but the prosecutor's office has not confirmed this information.
