Russian supercomputers reportedly vulnerable to drone attacks
Sunday, October 11, 2026 at 04:19 PM
Russia may lose a significant portion of its supercomputers due to their weak protection against drone attacks, according to a report by T-invariant. Three of Yandex's data centers and all three of its supercomputers were reportedly disabled by Ukrainian drone strikes between October 8 and 11.
Experts cited by T-invariant believe the attacks have caused colossal damage to Russia's IT infrastructure, with recovery being difficult due to the cost, sanctions, and a global shortage of components. The report details specific locations of supercomputers belonging to Yandex, MTS, and Sberbank, noting that many are located in areas frequently targeted by Ukrainian drones.
