A Russian woman was awarded 500,000 rubles in moral damages by the Supreme Court of Yakutia after a medical malpractice case stemming from a poorly written doctor's note. The case began in November 2024 in Yakutsk when T. Okuneva received an illegible medical report. An initial court awarded her 60,000 rubles, but an appeal led to a higher award.
The woman later lost a significant sum of money to fraudsters, according to her lawyer, Dmitry Tomsky, who told Zvezdanews that she now avoids calls from unknown numbers due to the incident.
