SBU reports suspicion against Putin's confidant in Zaporizhzhia Oblast

Tuesday, October 20, 2026 at 12:00 PM

Ukraine's Security Service (SBU) announced suspicion against Artem Sharlai, an official in the occupying administration of Zaporizhzhia Oblast. Sharlai reportedly represented Putin in Russian elections in occupied Melitopol in 2024.

According to the SBU, Sharlai compiled lists of pro-Ukrainian believers for the FSB. The SBU claims that based on these lists, Russian forces abducted, imprisoned, and tortured priests and parishioners, forcing them to support the Russian regime.
