Ukraine's Security Service (SBU) announced on Telegram that it foiled a plot linked to Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB) to assassinate the president of the K-1 kickboxing federation in Kyiv. The SBU did not publicly name the intended target.

The SBU stated that the intended target has been fighting for Ukraine since 2022, initially in Kyiv Oblast and later on the eastern front. The individual currently heads a nationwide civic organization and works as a kickboxing coach.
