Scientist Robert Wagner discovered a previously unknown crater on the Moon, approximately 222 meters in diameter, formed after an asteroid impact in 2024. According to NASA, the size of the celestial body may have been comparable to a three- to six-story building.

Wagner, who works with the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO) team, discovered the crater while studying a map of the Moon's surface. By comparing images taken before and after the impact, he determined it to be the largest of the recently formed craters discovered in the Solar System.
