Cybersecurity researchers concluded that the hacker group Silent Lynx is likely based in Kazakhstan. The group has targeted government and state-affiliated websites across Central Asia, the Caucasus, and Russia in recent years.

Silent Lynx reportedly attacked Russia's Orsk oil refinery earlier this year. Evidence for their connection to Kazakhstan includes attempts to test malware from the country shortly after code compilation and activity aligning with Kazakhstan's time zone, according to researchers.
