A suspicious item was discovered near the consular section of the Ukrainian embassy in Washington, DC, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported. Staff and visitors were temporarily evacuated, and the area was cordoned off. American law enforcement and bomb disposal experts are currently conducting checks.

The embassy will investigate the circumstances of the incident in conjunction with the American side. The consular department's work will resume after the checks are completed, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry added.
