Syrian border guard units reportedly clashed with smugglers in the Jurd al-Ma'arah area of Yabroud, rural Damascus, near the Syrian-Lebanese border. The smugglers opened fire on the patrol, prompting a response and an exchange of fire.

The clash resulted in the seizure of two vehicles and their cargo, and the arrest of one smuggler. The remaining smugglers reportedly fled into Lebanese territory.
