Three suspects arrested in 1999-2000 Chechnya attacks

Russian Investigative Committee (SK) reported the arrest of three individuals involved in attacks against military and law enforcement in the Chechen Republic in 1999 and 2000. The arrests took place in Ingushetia, Bashkiria, and Tatarstan.

One of the arrested individuals reportedly joined an armed group led by Shamil Basayev and Emir Khattab, participating in an attack on Russian soldiers in Chervlennaya on October 4, 1999, which killed 15 soldiers and wounded 28. Two others are suspected of participating in an attack on OMON officers and military personnel in the Vvedensky district of the Chechen Republic on March 29, 2000, resulting in 43 killed and 102 wounded.
