Sunday, September 20, 2026 at 03:54 PM
Turkey has sent its own proposals for de-escalation in the Black Sea to Ukraine and Russia and is now awaiting a response, according to a statement from Turkey's Foreign Ministry. The ministry's head, Hakan Fidan, stated in an interview with NTV that both sides are attacking each other's ports and maritime activities, and that Turkey aims to bring negotiations to a logical conclusion.
Fidan also recalled the 2022 grain deal, which was concluded by Ukraine, Russia, Turkey, and the UN to unblock Ukrainian ports and facilitate grain exports. However, Russia repeatedly suspended its participation and ultimately withdrew from the agreement in July 2023.
