Ukraine's Ministry of Development, Infrastructure, and Transport, in conjunction with "Ukrzaliznytsia" (Ukrainian Railways), has initiated the formation of an international coalition to support Ukrainian railways. Minister of Restoration, Infrastructure, and Transport Mykola Kalashnyk announced this during the Carpathian Eight summit.

Kalashnyk stated that the summit focused on creating a systemic coalition for "Ukrzaliznytsia's" support, encompassing locomotives, financing, energy resilience, and modernization. The coalition will initially operate in two areas, with the first focusing on strengthening the locomotive fleet. He noted that Russia has systematically attacked railways and specifically targeted locomotives, resulting in damage to 533 "Ukrzaliznytsia" locomotives and 75 private industrial locomotives since the full-scale invasion began.
