Ukraine's Security Service (SBU), in cooperation with foreign law enforcement, has secured the return of an Odessa City Council deputy suspected of organizing a scheme to illegally seize municipal property. The individual had been evading justice in the European Union for nearly two years.

The deputy allegedly led a criminal group that illegally seized four municipal property objects, causing an estimated 11.3 million UAH in damages to the territorial community of Odessa. Charges include fraud, illegal land occupation, money laundering, and document forgery. He was detained in Romania in September 2026 and extradited to Ukraine on October 13.
