Ukraine's Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets reported that Russia killed and wounded more Ukrainian civilians in the first eight months of 2026 than in all of 2025. July saw the highest monthly casualties, with 437 killed and 2,610 wounded, the highest since May 2022.

Since the full-scale invasion, Russia has damaged or destroyed 4,661 educational facilities, 2,671 medical facilities, and 1,990 cultural heritage sites. Some restored sites have been hit again.
