Ukraine's SBU detains two in Odesa for allegedly helping Russia sell stolen grain
Ukraine's Security Service (SBU) has detained two employees of a company in Odesa for allegedly assisting Russia in concealing the origin of nearly 8,000 tons of Ukrainian wheat, valued at over 60 million hryvnias. The grain was reportedly exported from occupied Mariupol.
According to the SBU, in 2024, Russian forces loaded 7,800 tons of wheat onto the sanctioned vessel 'Alpha M' in Mariupol. The grain was then transported to the port of Temryuk in Russia's Krasnodar Krai, where fictitious documents were issued to claim Russian origin before being shipped to the Middle East for sale. The detained individuals allegedly organized a formal examination and issued a false conclusion on the grain's origin, despite knowing it was Ukrainian.
