A Telegram post reported that Maksym Korostel, a defender born in 1987, was killed on July 12, 2023, near Krasnohorivka in the Donetsk region. He was 36 years old.

Korostel voluntarily joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine on March 6, 2022, serving in the 116th Territorial Defense Brigade. He was posthumously awarded the Order of Bohdan Khmelnytsky III degree. In December 2024, a memorial plaque was unveiled at his former school in Poltava.
