A Telegram post reported that Oleksandr Shust, born January 14, 1980, and a resident of Poltava, was killed on December 21, 2023, in the Donetsk region. He served as a senior sergeant and commander of a rifle reconnaissance squad.

Shust joined the defense of Ukraine on the first day of the full-scale invasion. He was posthumously awarded the Order of Courage, 3rd Class. He is survived by his wife and two sons.
