Ukrainian drone reportedly hits plastics plant near Moscow

Sunday, September 20, 2026 at 12:43 PM

A Ukrainian drone reportedly struck a plastics manufacturing plant in Dzerzhinsky, near Moscow, on Tuesday. The plant is a subsidiary of the Austrian firm Alpla, which has continued to operate in Russia. Satellite imagery from Tuesday at 12:24 PM local time showed smoke rising from the company's building.

The smoke was initially mistaken for a strike on a nearby combined heat and power plant, but no fire was observed there. Several fires were also reportedly seen at the refinery in Kapotnya and a parking lot at the 'Sadovod' market.
