The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine confirmed that the Bashneft-UNPZ and Kuybyshevsky refineries were hit overnight. A fire was recorded at the Bashneft-UNPZ enterprise in Ufa, which had a processing capacity of 7.5 million tons of oil per year. The Kuybyshevsky refinery in Samara, Samara Oblast, Russia, was also hit, with a fire recorded on the premises.

The products of both refineries are used to meet the needs of the Russian army. The General Staff emphasized that "the targeting of such facilities is Ukraine's exercise of its inherent right to self-defense in accordance with Article 51 of the UN Charter and is aimed at reducing the military-economic potential of the Russian Federation."
