Ukrainian journalist and soldier Samuil Proskuryakov, who had been considered missing for four years, has been killed in the war. Proskuryakov wrote on human rights and social issues, collaborating with UNN, "Zaborona," and "Babel," and also worked for hromadske. On February 24, 2022, Proskuryakov and Diana were scheduled to marry but instead evacuated Kyiv under Russian missile fire.

After evacuating, Proskuryakov joined the 128th Separate Mountain Assault Transcarpathian Brigade, undertaking combat missions in the Zaporizhzhia and Donetsk directions. His unit was later deployed for an offensive operation in the Kherson region.
