Ukrainian Lieutenant Colonel Andriy Livenko killed in action on August 1, 2026
A Ukrainian lieutenant colonel, Andriy Livenko, who had served for over 30 years and participated in the ATO and defended the border regions of Chernihiv and Sumy, was killed on August 1, 2026, during a combat mission in Sumy Oblast. Under his command, thousands of volunteers joined the military in the initial days of the full-scale invasion.
Livenko commanded the 162nd Territorial Defense Battalion of the 119th Brigade of the Regional Territorial Defense Directorate "North" of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He was awarded the Order of Bohdan Khmelnytsky III degree for defending Ukraine. His soldiers engaged Russian forces near Rivnopillya, Khalyavyna, and Tovstolis, and held defenses near Kolychivka, Zhavynka, Kyiynka, Pavlivka, Stare, and Nove-Bilous, defending Chernihiv.
