The National Police have informed a Russian paratrooper of suspicion for torturing a resident of Bucha. During the city's occupation, a Russian serviceman struck an unarmed man in the face with the butt of an assault rifle, knocking out his teeth, and then put the barrel in his mouth and threatened to shoot him. With the assistance of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, police identified the suspect as a 26-year-old corporal, deputy commander of a combat vehicle and gunner-operator of the 234th Air Assault Regiment of the 76th Air Assault Division of the Russian Armed Forces.

In March 2022, he was in Bucha with his unit. Investigators established that on March 8, a local resident left the "Bethany" church, where he had been hiding from shelling with his family, and headed to a store. On Vokzalna Street, he was stopped by Russian soldiers who had set up a checkpoint at a beauty salon. After checking his mobile phone, the man was taken to a nearby property, forced to undress to the waist, and tied to a column with plastic zip ties. For half an hour, he was beaten with hands, feet, and blunt objects. The man was unarmed and did not participate in combat operations. He was released the same day, and on March 12, he evacuated the city. Investigators from the Main Investigative Department, under the procedural guidance of the Office of the Prosecutor General, have informed the suspect of suspicion under Part 1 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
