Monday, October 12, 2026 at 09:14 AM

Oleksandr Kolotovich, originally from Luhansk, spent three years in Russian captivity. In an interview with Suspilne, he described being held in a colony in the Luhansk region, where he stated Ukrainians from occupied territories faced particularly aggressive treatment. Kolotovich detailed severe shortages of food and irregular water supply, with water sometimes provided only once every few days.

He also described infrequent access to bathing facilities, with a weekly shower promised but only occurring once every month to six weeks. Kolotovich recounted the difficult conditions during summer, with 23 people in a cell designed for 16, and limited opportunities for hygiene.
