Ukrainian Security Service Arrests FSB Agent for Planned Rail Sabotage

Tuesday, October 20, 2026 at 07:03 PM

The Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) has arrested an FSB agent accused of planning to sabotage railway tracks in the Rivne region. The agent, identified as an unemployed resident of the Lviv region, was reportedly attempting to plant an improvised explosive device under the tracks used by freight trains. Russian special services allegedly planned to remotely detonate the device as a train passed over it.

The SSU stated that the agent was exposed in January 2025 and had a prior record for vandalism at the burial sites of Ukrainian defenders. His anti-Ukrainian comments in Telegram chats reportedly brought him to the attention of Russian intelligence.
