A Ukrainian soldier, Anton Baglay, was killed on April 1, 2023, while defending against an enemy assault near the settlement of Opytne in Donetsk Oblast. Baglay, 31, was a member of the 53rd Mechanized Brigade and had previously served in the State Emergency Service of Ukraine. He was noted for his service in intense battles in Donetsk Oblast, including Bakhmut, Soledar, Vuhledar, Zaitseve, and Avdiivka.

His wife, Karina Baglay, described him as a cheerful and kind person, a devoted husband and father who always helped those in need. Baglay was posthumously awarded the Order For Courage, 3rd Class. He is survived by his wife, three children, and siblings.
