Arkadiy Petrov, who had interrupted his computer science studies at the University of Edinburgh to defend Ukraine, was killed in action on September 18 near Cherneshchyna in the Kharkiv region. He had returned to Ukraine in May 2025 and served as a combat medic.

Petrov previously sustained severe injuries in Luhansk region in January, where he reportedly provided himself first aid and traveled approximately six kilometers to a Ukrainian village. Despite undergoing several surgeries, he remained in service. His mother was not informed of his decision to return to Ukraine in advance.
