Ukrainian soldier Konstantin Vlasenko reportedly evacuated from position via drone

Tuesday, October 20, 2026 at 04:27 PM

A Ukrainian soldier, Konstantin Vlasenko, with the call sign "Magura," reportedly spent 491 days in a position on the left bank of the Oskil River in the Kupyansk direction. He was reportedly evacuated using a drone after his comrade died in a drone strike in February and he sustained shrapnel wounds to his legs.

Despite losing both legs, Vlasenko reportedly continued to perform combat tasks, maintaining communication with command and receiving supplies. Multiple ground evacuation attempts were unsuccessful. Ukrainian defense forces reportedly collaborated on a rescue mission, ultimately evacuating him via drone, which is described as a world-first for evacuating a soldier directly from a position.
