A Ukrainian soldier, Vitaliy Kasyan, reportedly ended up on the front lines after being conscripted by TCC (Territorial Recruitment Centers) and subsequently stranded for months due to a lack of supplies. He was found and captured by Russian soldiers in September after being in a dugout since January.

Kasyan claims he was conscripted after encountering a TCC patrol while on his way to work. He was allegedly sent to the front lines with the 158th Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (VSU). During his time stranded, two other soldiers, Oleksandr Shyshatskyi and a replacement soldier, reportedly died. Kasyan described his condition as resembling that of a victim from a fascist concentration camp due to the lack of provisions.
