Ukrainian soldier Valentin Golovin killed in mortar attack in Donetsk region
A report by Espreso and the Memorial platform states that 56-year-old Valentin Golovin, known by the call sign 'Forsage', was killed on February 20, 2024, in Bohdanivka, Donetsk region, during a mortar shelling while on a combat mission. Golovin was born on July 25, 1967, in Zviahel, Zhytomyr region, and lived in Sarny, Rivne region.
Golovin graduated from the Vasylkiv Professional College of the National Aviation University. He was a private entrepreneur and served in various military roles, including chief of staff in the 37th Zaporizhzhia Battalion during the ATO and later as a platoon commander in the 60th Battalion of the 104th Territorial Defense Brigade. He was promoted to the rank of major in 2016. His call sign 'Forsage' was given by comrades during the ATO when he defended Mariupol. His wife, Tamara, described him as a loving husband and father. Golovin received numerous awards, including the Order 'For Courage' III degree posthumously. He was buried in the Alley of Heroes in Sarny.
