A Russian missile strike on a stabilization point in Orlivka, Donbas, killed 20-year-old Yevheniy Kazantsev on March 13, 2024. Kazantsev was wounded and awaiting evacuation with fellow soldiers when the strike occurred. He was born in Luhansk region and had previously engaged in sabotage against Russian forces in Starobilsk.

Kazantsev, who had a childhood disability that initially prevented him from joining a military lyceum, began volunteering after his family fled occupied Luhansk to Lviv. He served six months in the Territorial Defense Forces before joining the Air Assault Forces as a sniper. He was buried in Truskavets, leaving behind his mother and younger brother.
