The United States accused the Russian military satellite "Kosmos-2612" of a dangerous close approach to the American ICEYE-X36 spacecraft, which is used to provide satellite data to Ukraine. A Washington representative at the UN stated that the Russian satellite's maneuvers could constitute the testing or deployment of orbital weapons.

According to CSIS experts, the spacecraft came within approximately 150 meters of each other, with the maneuver being deliberate. Possible intentions cited include satellite reconnaissance, jamming, or a show of force, though Russia's true intentions remain unknown.
