The U.S. Embassy in Moscow issued a warning to citizens following reports of a suspected case of pulmonary plague in the Irkutsk region that resulted in one death. The diplomatic mission stated it is monitoring reports of quarantine measures and hospital restrictions.

The embassy reminded U.S. citizens that its ability to assist them in Russia, particularly outside Moscow, is limited. It reiterated its call for Americans not to travel to Russia and for those already there to leave immediately.
