Former Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and Ambassador to Great Britain, Valeriy Zaluzhnyi, stated that a Russian strike hit the National Academy of Sciences, resulting in the deaths of people close to him. He described the academy as a second workplace and a place where the "elite of our science and intelligentsia" worked.

Zaluzhnyi condemned the attack as a "barbarian" act against humanity and vowed to rebuild the academy. He expressed condolences to the victims and their families, stating that those who died will not be brought back and the perpetrator will not be forgiven.
