The head of Yemen's Presidential Council, Rashad al-Alimi, announced a large-scale military operation against the Houthis, aiming to regain government-controlled territories. Yemeni forces will conduct ground operations, with Saudi Arabia providing air support.

The Houthis currently control a significant portion of northwestern Yemen, including the capital, Sanaa. This new escalation marks the most serious conflict increase since the 2022 ceasefire.
