Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that the Russian army lost 248,964 servicemen on the battlefield in Ukraine between January and August of this year. Zelensky also claimed that Russia captured just over 1,000 km² of Ukrainian territory during this period, much of which Ukraine has since liberated.

Zelensky also asserted that North Korea has sent its troops to Russia to reinforce the army, and that the war is contributing to the development of North Korea's military capabilities, specifically in ballistic missiles and drones.
