Zelensky: Russia shifted to mass attacks after failing to occupy Ukraine

Friday, October 2, 2026 at 10:29 AM

Ukrainian President Zelensky told the Financial Times that Russia has shifted to mass attacks, including targeting bridges, data centers, internet and mobile networks, and hospitals, after failing in its initial attempts to occupy Ukraine. He stated that Russia aims to force people to leave cities.

Zelensky also discussed Ukraine's air defense capabilities, stating that F-16s are intercepting 50-60% of drones and that Ukraine is working on acquiring weaponry for F-16s and developing interceptors. He mentioned that Ukraine is testing five types of interceptors with varying effectiveness and expects 400 such interceptors in October.
