Ukrainian President Zelensky stated that a ceasefire announced by Donald Trump was 'news to him,' but that Ukraine would agree to an 'energy ceasefire' if Russia consented. He asked for notification of the start date if Trump had brokered a deal with Putin, according to Axios.

This is not the first time Trump has claimed to mediate an energy ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine. On September 14, he wrote on his social media platform Truth that Russia and Ukraine had agreed not to strike each other's energy facilities. At that time, no official agreements were reported, and mutual strikes on energy infrastructure continued.
